The Preschool Learning Foundations and Frameworks describe skills that most children exhibit "at around 48 months" and "at around 60 months" of age. These are the guidelines for Preschool, Head Start, and Transitional Kindergarten children. The Foundations are what children do, the Frameworks are the guide for how teachers support children in each of the developmental areas.

The Alignment of the California Preschool Learning Foundations with Key Early Education Resources is a document that provides the developmental continuum for learning beginning at the infant stage through the end of Kindergarten. This document is especially important in understanding the connections between TK and Kindergarten and the developmental progression bridging the Preschool Foundations to the Content Standards and Common Core State Standards.
Transitional Kindergarten Implementation Guide is an excellent resource for Transitional Kindergarten teachers to use in designing and managing an age-appropriate classroom.
